Build performance: Michael Prentice told us that developers experienced significant slowdowns when turning on AOT for local development, both in Angular version 9 and recently in Angular version 11.1. Let’s discuss how we could make the ng serve rebuild time faster with the Ivy AOT compiler in a large scale application.

Standalone components: Introducing local component scope enables incremental compilation on the component level. What other concerns do NgModules currently address and how could we support them without NgModules? What are the benefits of standalone components and optional NgModules?

FYI: The calendar link puts an all-day event with a reminder on my calendar, but it doesn't actually add it to my calendar with the correct time/timezone.

I'm working with Beeman from the Angular Discord server to host the event. We haven't figured out the platform out yet, but we want to make it available for the Angular community to see.

I just deleted the other events (from me) and made a clone, that it is public visible on the angular community calendar. I still need to figure out how to better work with is. wish we have a g suite for our angular community.

I could host a Google Meet call on my G Suite if needed. But I don't think that I have the ability to record the meeting. Though most of these meetings haven't been recorded, just notes taken and posted.

the thing is: I would love if we could have as angular community education license:

this could make collaboration a lot easier then using our private accounts or private G Suite. I guess.
But for this we need support by google. I can't do this and sadly we are not a not-profit or similar.

Here are some of mine on build performance / incremental compilation

• Optimizing incremental compilation status tracker #40728
• Angular builds were slowed down when sourceMaps were enabled until Optimize external source maps without full cache microsoft/TypeScript#40130 was fixed in TS 4.1
• AOT DevMode builds are much slower than JIT in Angular v9+
• Lots of work was done in Angular v10.1.2 and v11 to make AOT DevMode with Ivy faster. Also TypeScript 4.1 support was added in v11.1 to give better perf with source maps enabled. However, it was found that Incremental AOT compilation is 5 times slower in Angular 11.1 comparing to 10.1.
• It turns out that there is a whole new Ivy build toolset in Angular CLI v11.1. To use the old toolset for building Ivy and to get around the above issue, you can set NG_BUILD_IVY_LEGACY=1.
• Another issue that is likely a duplicate of the others above: [Ivy AOT] AOT recompilation is working slow on big projects angular/angular#35906
• There is already a commit in the CLI main branch that will fix the perf regressions from 11.0.x -> 11.1.x angular/angular-cli@9eb7fb5
• In progress PR to resolve a lot of the above: perf(compiler-cli): detect semantic changes and their effect on an incremental rebuild #40947. The good news is that this should be able to land in a patch/minor release and not require waiting until v12.
• Incremental Angular builds with Nx

• Follow up meeting on zone.js, zoneless apps, and hybrid apps with zone.js disabled for parts of the apps. @beeman will follow up with @BioPhoton to see about scheduling this.
• Library authors should read up on the new Angular Linker (related community blog post) and provide feedback (via GitHub issues)
• Checkout Joost's 2nd build perf PR: perf(compiler-cli): avoid module resolution in cycle analysis angular/angular#40948
