Hi, babeuloula, I'm not sure this is the way cloud boost note is going. Does that sound good for you or you need it to be a self-hostable app? |
Save data on a third party like gdrive or other is not good for me. With dropbox (I don't use GDrive), I can't use more than 2 devices on the same time. And with my smartphone I can't save dropbox file. And why limit at 10 documents ? Pro features like share a note, revisions ... OK but why only 10 documents ? |
Don't really use dropbox so cannot tell why do they restrict the number of devices. Cannot really answer you why there is a limit to 10 notes but I suppose the cloud space with its features is a separate application that has its own business path (previously BoostHub). If you like the application the 3$ for pro unlimited notes plan is a great way to support the developers. With many users (hard to scale) and cloud storage not being free, it's logical that no-one can offer unlimited storage space without any fees. The 10 documents limit is obviously just for app testing purposes. |
Yes I know, but I also want to centralize all my data (notes, files, email ...). I hope Boostnote will propose a Docker image for your own cloud. |
I think this would be a great feature. I think this would definitely increase the audience of this app. To be specific, the ability to launch a boost note next sever and the ability to connect to an ip address or hostname in the storage menu would be awesome features! |
Hi, I agree this would be a great feature. I would like to give another reason why a self-hostable app would be important to some people like me. From time to time you may have contracts where you have to be very careful about where you store your data, especially if you are an EU citizen. Syncing files with third-party tools isn't a great solution for teams working together at the same time, so it would be great to work with a normal team storage where you know that your data is on your own server. |
+1 on this This would be a game changer for my team, as we have company policies that prevent us from storing confidential info (docs/notes) on anything other than internal infra. |
We can leave this issue as discussion and feature request interest gathering. I think a lot of people are requesting company confidential data storing and sharing, so something in this direction (security wise) will be done. |
Hi, babeuloula, Just to give a bit of an update for this, the new cloud spaces can now have unlimited documents, so the restriction and hopefully this problem should resolved. As for security wise, the local storage is your best bet, there is no cloud sync, analytics, backend server etc. so you can continue using it that way and sync it externally. For the cloud security, not sure if that mix well together, but maybe @Rokt33r can provide more info if we have any plans for supporting this. |
It would be really nice if we can develop the cloud space feature together. But currently, the cloud space feature is not mature enough to provide the self-hosted server and their code. We will consider again when the feature becomes mature enough to provide enterprise-level service. |
Hello, thanks both of you. Now with illimited documents it's great. But host your own BoostNote is the most important part of this issue. Why close this issue ? |
I would very much like this feature as well. |
Should I recreate an issue ? Some users of BoostNote want to self host his notes. ping @Komediruzecki |
The issue is closed because of what @Rokt33r said, I don't see a point in recreating one, but once things get in place, we can consider gathering interest, I suggest opening a discussion on discussions for this. |
It would be great if we can use this as a self-hosted solution. |
Hi!
With the new version I can't create unlimited notes. I write several note everyday and I decide to choose boostnote instead of Evernote in order to use markdown and multiple devices.
On the roadmap, do you have plan to propose a docker image and a way to select a custom server for desktop and mobile apps ?
Thanks a lot
Best regards
