I upgraded to IntelliJ Idea 2024.3.1, and the amazon Q icon on my ride side menu bar is no longer present. I can see the "Amazon Q" entry on the bottom tool bar, and it has an entry for "Open Chat Panel", but if I select it nothing happens. I've tried signing out of Q and signing back in, but that didn't solve it. Restarted idea several times, checked for plugin updates, no luck.
I don't see any errors in the notifications log.

Toolkit: Amazon Q For JetBrains 3.44-243
OS: Linux 4.15.0-210-generic
IDE: IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate Edition 243

I'm having the same issues. The Amazon Q icon on my right side bar is missing while the bottom right shows that Amazon Q is active. Additionally, when I click the Amazon Q button on the bottom right, there is no "Open Chat Panel" entry. I've tried reinstalling Amazon Q and resetting my IDE but nothing fixed it.

I haven't heard anything at all on this. It's still not working. I just tried downgrading IntelliJ from 2024.3.1 to 2024.3, and the chat panel is there. Can someone please look into this?

I just upgraded to 2024.3.2 and this just happened. Has anyone ever found a solution for this?

I opened a ticket with AWS, but they haven't figured anything out. I finally built a new VM using a more recent version of ubuntu, and it works there, but I haven't found any indication of what might be different. Most of the stuff I've found on the web suggest it's an account issue, but whenever I revert intellij , it works fine, so I don't think it's an account issue.
I did notice that if I look under view, tools, Amazon Q Chat is disabled, but I haven't found a way to figure out why.

Amazon Q Chat in JetBrains requires the IDE to have webview support. JetBrains provides this through the JCEF component.

For customers attempting to run IntelliJ IDEA on Amazon Linux 2, JetBrains removed support for JCEF in 2024.3 due to glibc being too old on AL2. https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IJPL-172117

Based in the link, it was 2024.3.1, which lines up with when it broke for me. In my case, it's an older version of Ubuntu rather than aws linux, but it looks like the only way to fix it is to upgrade to a later linux version which supports glibc 2.88 and above.

I can see the same issue happening with Android Studio when using the AmazonQ plugin.

  • MacOS 14.2.1
  • AmazonQ 3.51-242
  • Android Studio 2024.2.2 - Build #AI-242.23726.103.2422.12816248, built on December 17, 2024

I am still facing same issue. I am on Amazon Linux 2 x86_64 5.10 Kernel and the above issue happens with me as well.
It is active and is providing auto suggestions, but doesnt show the chat panel. Please fix this asap.
