sidebar reloads on item click

I am using the bootstrap version of CoreUI within a rails environment

I have the problem that when a sub-menu item is clicked, e.g. in this case:

"pages (admin)" or "Section Types" the sidebar re-loads causing the parent menu item "Pages" to collapse and reopen etc...

I notice in the demo that this is not the case - the flow is seamless, it even appears that the content is not reloaded...

What am I missing/doing wrong?
