It looks like both master and 7.6 are using PDFBOX-2.0.16.
Encountered this bug https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PDFBOX-4683 and it's fixed in the later version so would be good to upgrade this.
Might need to be done outside of Tika upgrade unless we want to wait for - #52402
