What is Boost discussion forum

The discussion form is platform used to discuss the new ideas, publish new tutorials, make new announcements, boost releases, errors encountered, showcase storage-provider configuration and general questions.

If you require urgent help, it would be recommended to join the #fil-lotus-help and #fil-help channel under filecoin slack.

Categories

The discussion forum is currently divided into the following categories.

1. Announcements - Reserved for product and other community related announcements.
2. Client - Any general question or discussion related to using boost as a client.
3. General - Any general question or discussion that does not fall under other categories.
4. Ideas - New ideas from community members to improve boost and filecoin-markets. All new feature/enhancement requests would need to be discussed here before being accepted by the boost team.
5. Show and Tell - For storage providers to showcase their boost configurations and results.
6. Storage Provider - Any general question or discussion related to using boost as a storage provider.
7. Tutorials - Share your solution with community about how to get the most out of boost

How to use discussion forum efficiently

Search the forum

1. You can start by simply searching with the correct keywords. A simple search will show you all the discussions relevant to the keyword.
2. To run a custom search, you can simply use the above described categories to find what you are looking for. These categories can be opened by simply clicking on their name in the left side panel.
3. You can use label to customise your search further using the drop down. These labels allows the discussion to be grouped into further sub-categories. A list of available labels can be found here.
4. In case, you find the discussion you are looking for but it is archived and locked, then please collect all the relevant information based on the archived discussion and file a new one. Please make sure to mention that the new discussion is related to older one.

Start a new discussion

1. If you are not able to find a previous discussion related to your problem or idea, then you can start a new discussion.
2. Click on the "New Discussion" button on the discussion page and select a relevant category as per the above description.
3. If you are not sure about the category, then you can select "General".
4. Please make sure that title accurately describes the problem and topic. In case of an error, please try to include the error code or small description.
5. The initial description should be very clean and precise. In case of show and tell or ideas, please make sure to include examples and commands etc. If the discussion is about an error, then please make sure to include a log snippet.
6. You can tag @LexLuthr if discussion requires urgent attention.

Forum Rules

1. Please be respectful towards each other and do not use foul language. We request you to adhere to filecoin community code of conduct guidelines.
2. Please try to use English language as much as possible. This is to allow maximum outreach without the need of translations. If you are not able to use English for any reason, then please help the other contributors understand the problem using examples and logs.
3. Please be responsive on the discussion created by you and mark it as answered once the purpose of the discussion has been achieved.
4. Any discussion not active for more than 1 week would be marked stale and archived. The discussion will be locked and no one would be able to comment on it any longer.
