How to determine grid item order when resizing from 2 columns to 1 column

Hi,

When changing the order of items, sometimes the first item in column 1 is the top item when resizing to 1 column from a 2 column responsive layout while other times the first item in column 2 is in the top spot. Is there a way to determine prior to resize what the order will be when resizing from a 2 column to 1 column layout?
