Hi, would it not be good if you could create custom status for example VMs or Devices directly in the GUI and not to change lines in the python scripts?

At the moment, I modify for example die /opt/netbox/netbox/virtualization/choices.py to get custom Status for VMs.

I just wanted to clarify the current state here, especially in case someone else comes across this thread.

Personally, I'm not in favor of this proposal, mainly because status values are typically quite static. It's usually something you define once (or maybe adjust occasionally), and then you're done.

I could better understand the need for a UI option if this were something you'd change frequently — but as mentioned above, there’s already a supported way to configure custom values without touching the source code, and I think that’s the better approach from a maintenance and upgrade perspective.

Ohh you're right we wont change them frequently.
