Using neo-tree with mini-icons

New here, but is it possible to use neo-tree with echanowski/mini-icons from https://github.com/echasnovski/mini.icons so that we can use terminals that can only use nonnerd fonts? If so, does anything special need to be done, or do we just include it as a dependency, instead of nvim-tree/nvim-web-devicons?

I think you can either just have mini.icons mock web devicons (call the method on the mini.icons module) or you can use icon.provider as mentioned in:
