About open an directory

I have two question about open an directory, the command is like this:

$ nvim /path/to/a/directory

the first thing is that: I hope it will open in netrw mode, rather than default sidebar mode. Do you know how to configure it like this?

the second thing is that: when I open a directory, the cwd is changed into the folder, rather than the dir of nvim launched. For example:
When open a file:

$ cd /home/project
$ nvim ./path/to/a/directory/file.txt
:echo getcwd()
/home/project

When open a directory:

$ cd /home/project
$ nvim ./path/to/a/directory/
:echo getcwd()
/home/project/path/to/a/directory

Do you know how to align the behavior so that no matter if I open a file or a direcotry, the getcwd() will be /home/project ?

if you set filesystem.bind_to_cwd = false then it should get you the behavior you want.

e.g:

Yes, but when I set hijack_netrw_behavior = 'open_current', and I open a directory, the float window does not work. I need to choose a file to open, and then toggle neotree to see float window.

If I do not set hijack_netrw_behavior = 'open_current', the first time I open a directly from shell, there will be a float window.

With hijack_netrw_behavior = 'open_current', when I open a directory, the neotree does not use float window, and the opened tree is still not based on the directory that I run command nvim.

Everything will be as expected when I quit neotree, and re-toggle it. But the first round will not be working as expected.

Netrw doesn't open as a float, so neo-tree won't either. If you want this to be a float, that would be a new feature. I'm willing to implement that, but that was not what was asked in the original post.

What do you mean the opened tree? If you have both of the settings i mentioned, the intended behavior on nvim /path/to/dir is:

1. Neo-tree opens a tree based in /path/to/dir
2. If you then run :Neotree, the sidebar :Neotree will still be based in whatever directory you opened nvim from.

Do you know how to make this basing in directory where nvim is started?

Actually, I just found that I cannot go through file system beyond the root of the tree. If I use nvim /path/to/dir, I cannot view files in other directories such as /path/to/dir222, because the root of the neotree is /path/to/dir
