Steps to reproduce

When using the Japanese Romaji (日本語ローマ字) keyboard layout, text input is completely broken. The characters are not converted during typing.

It's quite possible that text entry in other non-Latin alphabets is broken too.

Updated the title to reflect multiple affected keyboards

Broken keyboards include:

• Japanese (Romaji)
• Chinese (Pinyin + probably other variants)
• Korean
• Any keyboard using composition to create new symbols from multiple symbols input

There might be two issues noticeable depending on which specific keyboard is used:

1. Automatically replacing latin characters with symbols while typing doesn't work
2. "Composing" symbols from multiple other symbols doesn't work either
