Root message for new thread isn't visible instantly in the right panel

Steps to reproduce

1. Switch on threads in Beta
2. In a room, click the thread icon
3. See right panel open to respond in a thread

Outcome

What did you expect?

Root message for the thread is instantly visible in the right panel

What happened instead?

The right panel is ready and the root message consistently takes ~3 seconds to appear
