Favorited room actually running two instances

Description

I have an IRC room which I added to Favorites a long time ago. I selected Favorites > X, and I see it's disconnected for some reason, and I click a button there to re-connect it.

Right away I selected the same room in Rooms > X, and it shows it's disconnected. It should show that it's connected. Even better, it should not change anything except the selection highlight, because it's the same room.

Steps to reproduce

• Connect to a irc room (Don't remember how, I did it a long time ago)
• Add it to favorties
• Wait a month to be disconnected because of no activity
  ...
• Click Favorites > X and reconnect
• Click Rooms > X, notice it still appears disconnected.

Could you elaborate. Rooms are persistent and do not "disconnect". Did you see yourself kicked? What button did you click to re-connect?

Rooms do disconnect if you don't use the service for 30 days or some long period of time. I clicked some Reconnect link I saw in there when I selected the room.

@aleb I think you misunderstand. Matrix rooms don't have a connection state. You are either joined to them or not. The IRC bridge "may" decide to kick users from rooms who haven't talked for 30 days.

I believe this is a bug where you are clicking rejoin and you are not being rejoined to the room, but this has nothing to do with IRC.

No. As I wrote in the issue description, I was rejoined/reconnected just fine.

Whereabouts does it say in your issue that you were reconnected just fine?

To be honest, now I'm not sure these are the same "rooms", even though they have the same content:

• Favorites > "Pitivi" has URL https://riot.im/develop/#/room/#freenode_#pitivi:matrix.org
• Rooms > "Pitivi: a free/libre and open source software video editor for GNU+Linux" has URL https://riot.im/develop/#/room/#pitivi:matrix.org

I marked Rooms > "Pitivi: ..." as Favorite and now both appear there! So the issue might be that it's not clear what each room is.
