From lander timeline training 2016/9/13:
When developing a timeline, sometimes it is for only a portion of the mission. The battery may not start as fully charged, so would be nice to have a field in the timeline to not only set the size of the battery but also the starting SOC.

@RCarvalhoNASA - for initial state of charge, would it be more useful to express this as a percentage or as a specific value in Watt-hours?

I think percentage might be easier for the users, and I don't think either has any benefit over the other in terms of linking multiple timelines together, propagation of changes, and changing battery sizes or activity dictionaries.
