The geometry_area_perimeter method documented https://pyproj4.github.io/pyproj/stable/api/geod.html#pyproj.Geod.geometry_area_perimeter - doesn't list its limitations. These include, but may not be limited to:

  • Only working for areas up to half the size of the globe
  • Returning negative numbers for certain large polygons
