Splitting Wires doesnt work

for some reason the "splitting wires" feature stopped working for me.
any suggestions?

for everyone who has the same problem:
as this bug appeared mysteriously - as mysteriously it went away.
All i did was "living with it", further coding in node red / using HA as usual, rebooting a few times and so on...
...oh, i added and removed some plugins in my node red palette, maybe that changed something important.
i'm sorry that i cant be of further help
